Pain Elimination with revolutionary Physician recommended Hoffa Manual Therapy
Available for teaching - massage schools, physical therapy classes, and individual bodyworkers wanting to learn a clinical, innovative, extraordinary, effective therapy
Martin Giesselmann is a German Physio Therapist who is the pioneer to introduce the revolutionary Hoffa Manual Therapy to Hawaii and the U.S. He has been in the therapy industry for over 40 years. His training includes hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, rehab aquatic exercise, rehab exercise for Apoplex and Cardiac arrest recovery, rehab exercise for orthopedic problems and obesity and weight loss training, and connective tissue massage (Bindegewebsmassage after Elisabeth Dicke). Martin is a Hawaii State licensed massage therapist and a certified massage instructor.
His diverse work experience has included education from the prestigious Cooper Institute on Physical Fitness as a personal trainer and a specialized course in biomechanics in resistance training. Martin is a lifelong martial artist and holds black belts in kickboxing, Shotokan Karate, and Judo. He is a European Kick Box Champion, a Champion of Germany, an Ironman Triathlete, and a marathon runner. He has an infectious passion for helping people and hopes to get the chance to help you meet your rehabilitation and lifestyle goals.
What can be treated?
Soft tissue pain, myofascial pain syndrome, nerve pain, migraines, epicondylitis (tennis elbow), carpel tunnel syndrome, arthritis, fibromyalgia, lower back pain, shoulder and neck pain, etc. Hoffa is an effective deep tissue therapy that is not performed with vertical pressure (not pushing into the body with a lot of pressure) therefore pregnant women, infants, and elderly with osteoporosis can be treated and helped.
Hoffa Manual Therapy has been praised by physicians. Due to great success, Martin was invited to physician conferences for its revolutionary therapy. Hoffa Therapy has effectively eliminated pain in patients who have suffered years with pain and in many instances even prevented the need for invasive surgical procedures.
The Hoffa Manual Therapy is a hundred-year-old German therapy developed by Dr. Hoffa to treat soft tissue pain syndromes and dysfunction of joints, muscles, and nerves. Dr. Hoffa also thought that these techniques demand detailed, medical knowledge so he only wanted doctors/physicians to learn and execute this treatment because of the powerful, life-changing results. Martin's introduction to Hoffa Manual Therapy was in the only accredited institute in Europe for Hoffa's three-finger petrissage.
The therapy is based on the fact that due to repetitive movement muscles are shortened and stay hyper-contracted that results in a strong pull on origin and insertion of muscles, such as seen in epicondylitis (tennis elbow) and adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder syndrome). The constant contraction of the muscle results in a lack of circulation, which causes the contraction of more muscle groups and the building of myogelosis (trigger points). These trigger points can squeeze arteries and capillaries and irritate nerves causing nodules and numbness. Due to the lack of arterial blood flow, the fascia (connective tissue) can form adhesions, constrict and further reduce circulation and range of motion. Nerve irritation nodules, trigger points, and fascia adhesions don’t show up on any MRIs and are only palpable by the trained therapist.
The revolutionary Hoffa Manual Therapy is able to break though this vicious cycle by treating the muscle, fascia, and nerve tissue at the same time by lifting, rolling, and wringing the soft tissue to activate the stretching sensors in the muscles. This sends a message to the central nervous system to relax the treated area while stimulating the adrenal gland to produce endorphins. Histamines and acetylcholine are also released and help to free the body of old cell residues. This process strongly increases the arterial blood flow and will help to rebuild muscles to normal strength, length, and function; the fascia will give up its tight grip, resulting in the reduction of the patient’s pain. Many patients report instant pain relief from just one treatment using Hoffa Manual Therapy.
Aloha Martin, I want to thank you for all the pain relief you provided to me the last few months, especially now that I’m trying to recover from the job I just left. I’m really bummed I didn’t come to you sooner!
For anyone who is curious about Martin’s methods, I can say without hesitation he has changed my life. For the past two years at least, my job has caused me chronic pain all over my body. It was only after seeing Martin for my upper back, lower back, quads, back of my shoulders, front of my shoulders, and arms that I have been able to make any progress with reducing my pain, despite seeing other massage therapists and doctors before I saw Martin. This pain, I found out when Martin educated me, was mostly due to nerve and connective tissue inflammation and adhesions.
What really blew my mind was when I asked him to work on the pain I had from my collarbone across the front of my shoulder down my arm, caused by hunching in a chair over a computer for 12 hours at a time. It was actually causing significant pain when raising my shoulder to do anything and was interrupting my ability to play volleyball competitively. I had been to physical therapy for it several times, and it kept coming back; sometimes it wouldn’t even completely go away but there was only so much therapy I could do, so I resigned myself to it. Martin, genius that he is, recently worked on the painful areas for a total of two 1-hour-long sessions, and the pain is GONE. I can actually pull my shoulders back into better posture with relatively little difficulty now, something I haven’t been able to do for the past two years.
I’m so grateful to him for what he has done for my wellbeing and overall ability to be present in life. If you have chronic pain, and western medicine has struggled to help it, please consider seeing Martin first before doing anything drastic or continuing to suffer in silence.

Let me start by just saying that Martin is truly a miracle worker. In 2012, I was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and after a long battle with chemotherapy and radiation to my head and neck I was blessed to survive the ordeal - but it left with a few battle scars. One of my primary issues post-cancer treatment was my inability to raise my left arm above my head. Literally after years of living with limited mobility, I was introduced to Martin by a friend that was previously healed by him. I was honestly a little reluctant to schedule a session at first because I was told by numerous physical therapists, chiropractors, and doctors that my condition was irreversible and just something that I had to live with. In fact, the last doctor I visited ran a significant amount of nerve tests and determined that I had permanent damage to my spinal accessory nerve - most likely a side effect of the chemo treatment. I eventually decided that I basically had nothing to lose by seeing Martin, but went in with very low expectations that he could improve my situation. After just one session, just 1 hour, I was finally back on the road to recovery! Somehow Martin was able to work his magic and suddenly I recovered 70% of my mobility in just the first session! Needless to say I was blown away by the results. I have been a patient of his ever since and I am almost back to 100% thanks to his unique abilities to heal the "unhealable". If you are in need of a miracle like I was, I strongly recommend you at least give Martin an opportunity to improve your quality of life. Obviously, neither he nor I can guarantee any results - but I can guarantee that it is absolutely worth the shot. I'm glad I took it and it has made all the difference in my life. Thank you Martin for all you've done and continue to do for all of us. You truly are doing God's work here on earth.

14 years ago, I injured my back. After months of struggling with bad sciatic pain, to the point I was considering back surgery, my masseuse referred me to Martin Giesselmann. My very first appointment with Martin was amazing. I haltingly and with pain climbed the stairs to meet him and at the end of the hour, I walked normally and easily down those same stairs. Maximum improvement took several weeks, and multiple appointments, but it was well worth the money, time and long drive from the windward side to Waipahu, where Martin had his practice at that time. Several years later, my back again flared up, to the point I could not even walk. I returned to Martin, and spent somewhere between five and seven weeks of appointments with him. At the end of that time, I was fine. I have returned to see him only once since then, for a shoulder I injured in a bad fall. For that injury, it only took one session to fix the problem. Since then, I have sent a number of friends, as well as my husband, with painful backs and knees, to see Martin. All have found relief at Martin's hands.

Hi Martin, Thank you SO MUCH for the wonderful job you did in the two classes with the Postgrad students. As you could tell, there was lots of excitement in the classroom, and much enthusiasm for the techniques you were teaching. The students are continuing to work on their 3-finger petrissage skills, as well as the other skills. Several of them have ordered, and already received, cupping sets.
Perhaps the most remarkable outcome is the case of Allegra, the student who had recently had knee surgery, and who was scheduled for a follow-up surgical procedure. She was having a good bit of pain, and limited ROM in that knee, and you used her as the demo model for quadriceps work in class. You also did some work in the popliteal area, releasing adhesions, etc. She saw her surgeon two days after class, and the surgery was cancelled due to her improvement (from your treatment). She said the surgeon didn’t recognize your name, but told her to continue seeing you.
How wonderful for the students to be able to watch a master at work, and to understand how valuable the skills they are learning can be, when well-learned and properly applied.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thanks again, Martin for all that you do to help raise the standing (and the standards) of our profession through your excellent work and through sharing your skills and knowledge with colleagues and students.
Best wishes for a joyous holiday season, and continued recovery from your back injury.
Aloha nui loa,
Anna

As you know I had a skiing accident involving both my knees - damaging different crucial ligaments on each knee. In the UK I was in a leg brace for 4 months on one leg and a knee brace on the other. I opted not to have surgery (it was too swollen at the time I considered it) and was advised to embark on months of physio. Taking forever, limping and with associated pain from not walking correctly the whole episode was a complete bore.
Having had a hysterectomy in December (with dodgy knees still putting a question mark over exercise, let alone skiing this winter) I went to Hawaii for 6 weeks. It was there that I learnt that the physio (exercising my muscles in the main to 'strengthen the knee') would continue to be ineffective while the nerves to my knee were damaged/swollen. I had a series of treatments which seemed very light (but did work!) from a osteopath/deep tissue massage therapist who had me walking properly in 2 weeks and I returned to be on the slopes in March (exactly one year after my accident).
With Very Kind Regards,
Rosalyn Rahme

Thank you so much for an absolutely superb session yesterday. Because of your expertise, I woke with very little pain this morning...if one could even call it pain...perhaps subtle aches, at the most. I feel so much better.
To feel this good with even that mess in my hip is phenomenal. This is the first time I've had any hope for a DECENT and balanced recovery after the surgery. And I am glad that Antonella piqued my interest with her somewhat over-enthusiastic explanation of Hoffa! Hoffa is so right and your hands are the best! I'm just glad I found you and the exquisite quality that you share with your clients.
Aloha,
Marianne Wassel

Thank you so much for the treatment yesterday. I am feeling pretty good today. My back is sore as you mentioned it would be (not in a bad way) but my hips feel so much better.
Thank you again,

He is the German Guru for hoffa therapy…He is all about natural things which is great especially if you are also. He did my first Chinese suction cup therapy. Not sure how that worked for me but it was neat. Very fun to talk too. Loving father, knows his stuff and really cares about his patients… many people want HIM to do the hoffa work.

I had my car accident nearly 2 years ago. I have tried everything, PT at another location, massage therapy at two other locations, chiropractic, acupuncture and it was not until my doctor referred me to … I have started to have some relief from my pain. I have seen 4 different people here and they are all wonderful in their own way - but yes the star is Martin! I am nearly off my pain killers now and am feeling better every day.

My left thigh sleeping for 5 years got better first time after his massage. Amazing! I'm so happy 200% highly recommend. He explains what he works on every parts on my body and is very friendly. When you have questions, he always has right answers. I used go to see many doctors in Honolulu, but they just gave me testing like CT scan, X-rays, MRI, and no one could find any wrong with my body and treatments. They don’t even touch my body when I went to their office. The doctors just look at X-rays… they also sent me some therapists but didn’t work for me at all. I trust this Massage guy and he can fix your body guarantee.
